Though this is cool and works for cameras that are only looking from the top, most places have side cameras now. Clear reflective spray won't work because better cameras and filters can clear that up. That goes for anything you decide to apply to it to make it blurry.
As a retired police officer, I do not like the big brother camera approach to traffic enforcement. I do like this idea, but it would be nice if there was a cover available that has no tint whatsoever. Officers will sometimes scrutinize plates that have a covering with even the slightest amount of tint because they stand out quite a bit. Though the plate is relatively visible, a lot of times the expiration sticker is difficult to see, due to tint, which is likely to get you stopped.
@@jakelandin In the UK they don't like anything which attempts to interfere with the judicial process especially perverting the course of justice. Most people don't realise how serious that shit can get. No licence plate, could be a grand fine but likely less & no points. Unless you say you took it off to evade cameras or police, in which case you're in the same place. If the police stop you and find a flip up plate you're going to have a very bad time of it.
I have photochromatic tint... Tinting is a huge discrepancy in states based on level of tint. This special tint allows my vehicle to stay cooler on hotter days. The brighter it is outside the darker the tint gets. Rolling down the window a few minutes makes it nearly transparent again. The tint effect takes a few minutes. I've been using it a couple yrs now. Rolling window down partially creates two tone window tint...I suppose I could get multiple shades in different sections too with timing sunlight & dark.

@@denisovanhybrid9610 Nope. If you set out to obscure the number plate in some way to prevent it being caught by cameras or.police it is perverting the course of justice, a serious criminal offence. If you have no number plate you could claim it fell off or even if the vehicle is not registered and had no plate it's a fine & probably not a big one. Put a false plate on or flip up plates or even so-called anti flash coatings, all come under attempting to pervert the course of justice and it's a criminal offence with big penalties, usually prison. But hey, don't just take my word for it, try it and prove me wrong. I did a tour of a traffic police facility some.years back and they had photos of some guys who partially covered the plate on a red MR2 with gaffer tape & drove it as fast as they could several times through a speed camera, bare arses out of the window etc, trying to see how fast they could go. Sadly for them there was only one red MR2 registered with the letters & digits they didn't cover & the guy got 6 months for perverting the course of justice plus all the other traffic related offences. But what would they know, they're only traffic cops who do this stuff every day. Carry on.
The irony of attempting to block the view of a licence place on a completely unique and quite distinctive vehicle. Also, showing your own face in this video.. 👍👍
I like this! Wish you did it BOTH ways just to see difference. Many apartment and other communities take video of cars coming and going. They are much lower and would be blocked better with the normal orientation of the privacy blocker
This "might" work if the camera is right behind you at a 45 degree angle. But once you move away (say 50ft) the angle reduces letting the camera see the plate.
Shit...this vid has over 900k views. You really think nobody at all made one of these? I bet a bunch of people did. It probably costs no more than $10 too. Even less if you already have the license plate frame.
Just having a license plate frame is enough for the ticket hungry police to pull you over and write you a ticket. You compound that with a screen, and that will be a bigger problem.
That happens in states that include the county on your plate which the frame often covers up. But they like to put the region you're from in the state on the plate, so they can better profile and target.
Two things really concern me. This privacy film greatly dims out monitors. And that's horrible to start. Because of this people and officers can see the difference from the standard plate
These covers are illegal in Texas, apparently. I got my driver's license in 1992, and I'd had two speeding tickets in all those years. None since 2007. Installed a cover on my plate and got stopped twice the first day. One just a warning but it was nearly 20 minutes parked on the side of the road (why does it take so long?). The other I got a ticket for going 44 downhill in a 40. Both cops said the plate cover was illegal and I was told to remove it. I'm obviously not a fast driver. I just don't like the idea of these fascist police automatically reading our plates as we go about our business.
In my country (Italy) you can't cover the licence plate with a protective film or any other transparent staff and I think on most country in the world it is the same.
@@fishsmell2570 I drive normal 🚗💨💨 everybody knows that those speed limits are unrealistic and a “legal” way for the city to make money 😡 25mph is stupidly slow for a speed limit…bicycles pass by you. So if the government is doing tricks to take money from you, you have the right to avoid them.
FYI, in Ontario Canada any license plate covers that are tinted black to partially obscure or make your plate hard to read (by human vision or by cameras) is considered illegal. To be clear, putting covers over your license plate is fine. They just cannot obscure your license plate that makes them hard to read. Section 13.2 of the Highway Traffic Act : "every number plate shall be kept free from dirt and obstruction and shall be affixed so that the entire number plate, including the numbers, is plainly visible at all times, and the view of the number plate shall not be obscured or obstructed by spare tires, bumper bars, any part of the vehicle, any attachments to the vehicle or the load carried" I see so many cars with darkened plates, and nearly all of them are speeding. As one officer said, "there's absolutely no need to have a darkened cover over your plate. You can be pulled over for suspicion of an unlicensed vehicle because they can't see your plate and end up with a ticket for having an obscure plate or get both!"
If you put a hitch to the back of the vehicle, then add on the basket, which will go into the hitch receiver, on top of that put sufficient sized rubbermaid box to it and strap it down.
The idea has promise. I wonder if you could buy that screen protector in a clear coat. The effect is in the plastic not the color. I think the dark color just adds to the effect.
Speed cameras ruin communities. Businesses near the speed cameras are no longer visited. Eateries near the speed cameras are no longer frequented. Speed / traffic cameras should only impose a fine if an accident resulting. I have zero issues with police departments watching traffic regardless of privacy issues. But the fines are too much and despicable.

I don't know about the US - but in many countries this'll get you a ticket, and possibly your car seized. I’ve also heard of spraying a couple of coats of hairspray to your license plate making it shiny so when the flash goes off making it hard to read.
What about the flash they use will it still block?
I'm way late to the game mainly because it's never affected me until a recent situation and even though I was in the wrong I got a bad taste from how it happen. My registration was suspended due to insurance lapse and the officer was set up on the side with the alpr on. Now I understand ALL the scare tactic propaganda around these "kidnappings! Stolen cars! Wanted criminals entering our beloved neighborhoods etc" but I see this as just another tax on citizens and further turning "police" into revenue collectors. It's great this officer was able to inform me my tag was suspended (I have current insurance and always do. Not sure what happen here) but she then proceeded to give me a 165$ ticket for it as well as 89$ for no seatbelt and 235$ for not having my license on me. I have a f*cking license and she can clearly see that in her computer but the mistake of leaving it home along with my cash and credits cards etc cost me over 200$. "Oh just plead not guilty and I'll talk to the judge" is what she says. Fck you lady. This is why people hate cops
That's illegal in most states, at least your making it easy for them to find you.
not in ohio it would be the same as a tinted clear cover you put over the plate
I love your car's "attire" 🤣 Luke would be very proud of you and Darth would be very envious
Police officers in Washington, DC may now pull over and issue a $500 ticket to anyone using a license plate cover
In the UK it would come under attempting to pervert the course of justice, typically 6 months prison. Take the ticket or get a camera GPS app.
@@cliveadams7629 6 months in prison for that!? Damn that's a bit excessive.
Just the way to generate more revenue for their retirement fund
Good, you shouldn't be covering your license plate.
Love the Star Wars theme on your car, out here in Culver City Ca, someone has a car that look's like the A-Wing.
I don’t know what is sadder - that you own a Prius or you turned that Prius into a Star Wars Esque type of vehicle ?
You so american

Yeah, you tell him. Fuck good gas mileage.
'Murica!
Yeah. He should be driving a pick up truck, what's wrong with him.

Best way to block a speed camera is to...shoot it...burn it....e.t.c. e.t.c.
a high powered Laser will destroy the CCD sensor
Just got my first ticket using this method.
Looking for another option now.
Otherwise, its was a clever idea.
Get personalized license plate with 8’s and B’s group together
7s and Zs work as well
O's and Q's and cover the bottom slightly with a license frame.

Unfortunately, in California you legally can not have any covering on your plate, although it is still done.
This is so cool. I’m in uk, and I will fallow your instructions and repost after. Thanks for info
thank you!
Mate you’re going to get pulled over by the rozzers as soon as you go near any road. Do let me know if you made one that’s blend tho 👍👍
@@Ethan-vl1bz they'll have you for a Dirty plate or one with a different font so I agree definitely will be after anyone doing this. Interesting idea though 😂
Let us know how you go. I predict 3-6 months for perverting the course of justice. You will get pulled very quickly, held on remand until someone posts bail then sent to Crown Court for a very serious criminal charge. 100%
I wonder if they have completely transparent screen privacy blockers. Because the tinted one is so obvious.
This "might" work if the camera is right behind you at a 45 degree angle. But once you move away (say 50ft) the angle reduces letting the camera see the plate.
I love how he says “for educational purposes only” and then proceeds giving advice like your actually going to make one
Shit...this vid has over 900k views. You really think nobody at all made one of these? I bet a bunch of people did. It probably costs no more than $10 too. Even less if you already have the license plate frame.
For educational purposes only = dont do this and if you do, you cannot sue me for it later.
Just having a license plate frame is enough for the ticket hungry police to pull you over and write you a ticket.
You compound that with a screen, and that will be a bigger problem.
Not where I've lived and visited 😅
@W. yup, in some states and dealerships in those states still put on frames
That happens in states that include the county on your plate which the frame often covers up. But they like to put the region you're from in the state on the plate, so they can better profile and target.
The fact that your car looks like an X-wing, I don't think you will be getting any trouble from the police. May the force be with you!!
May the 4th be with you✌✌✌
How do you justify a “tinted” license plate when asked?
It looks cool.
Wow... ok first things first.. I LOVE YOUR CAR... I have a Storm Trooper themed car.
This is an awesome idea
This is perfect for educationally dodging all the electronic tolls in New York😎
I love these things. I have a full enclosed one the activates just push of a button. It is great!
Which model?
What about at night? Will your tag lights illuminate the numbers to be seen visually?
Great idea, 👍🏻 just subscribed.
In New York City those screens are illegal 🤦🏻♂️ any alternative??
Yea drive normal lol
@@fishsmell2570 I drive normal 🚗💨💨 everybody knows that those speed limits are unrealistic and a “legal” way for the city to make money 😡 25mph is stupidly slow for a speed limit…bicycles pass by you. So if the government is doing tricks to take money from you, you have the right to avoid them.
This would make an interesting paint job.
1 ticket vs 2,547 didn't get caught. Worth it.
FYI, in Ontario Canada any license plate covers that are tinted black to partially obscure or make your plate hard to read (by human vision or by cameras) is considered illegal. To be clear, putting covers over your license plate is fine. They just cannot obscure your license plate that makes them hard to read.
Section 13.2 of the Highway Traffic Act : "every number plate shall be kept free from dirt and obstruction and shall be affixed so that the entire number plate, including the numbers, is plainly visible at all times, and the view of the number plate shall not be obscured or obstructed by spare tires, bumper bars, any part of the vehicle, any attachments to the vehicle or the load carried"
I see so many cars with darkened plates, and nearly all of them are speeding. As one officer said, "there's absolutely no need to have a darkened cover over your plate. You can be pulled over for suspicion of an unlicensed vehicle because they can't see your plate and end up with a ticket for having an obscure plate or get both!"
You must be fun at parties
Who needs a toll tag when you have this ingenious invention
If you are concerned about paying tolls on roads you drive on, you have a much have bigger issue than trying to hide your plate. Education is the key.
Highway robbery nigga
you mean like the police state taxing you for technicalities and invading your privacy?
If you put a hitch to the back of the vehicle, then add on the basket, which will go into the hitch receiver, on top of that put sufficient sized rubbermaid box to it and strap it down.
that one wont get past the pigs , looks tinted !
Still illegal and going to get people pulled over.
Slipping a large trash bag over them works well too the free standing ones are really easy to sneak up on .
The cameras don't take still photos they take video. As you drive a way your plates are visible.. this trick dont work ..
The idea has promise. I wonder if you could buy that screen protector in a clear coat. The effect is in the plastic not the color. I think the dark color just adds to the effect.
"Could be illegal..."
You mean don't use one ANYWHERE but private property.
This one looks gray. There is a new transparent one that looks like there is nothing in it when looking for side or middle but from top it completely blocks itZ
Ok where do we get it??
@@donmega305 I will give you a hint because I cannot ruin it for others. Is not hard is just as flimsy as a film. Just head to aliexpress or ebay and search for it, maybe windows have it maybe screen monitors have it, who knows… but I can tell you one thing, once you see it, it will click in. Specially the ones you can buy in parts and put together so you can turn on/off with a button wirelessly 🥲😉

For for $50 you can go online and get an electronic license plate shutter and automatically open and close and not have to worry about having a tinted license plate cover that will get you a ticket anyway.
You will get pulled over in Jersey. I got pulled over for the light over the plate being out...
In Maryland too
Man you are a genius!!! 👏
Will use this hack for "educational purposes" when passing through the e-tolls in South Africa
Nobody pays them anway. And we make up our own laws in this land as well. Laws are merely suggestions in Africa.
This is totally illegal in most states. In my state you can’t have anything covering the plate (frames are the only exception). Don’t be surprised if you get pulled over.
even mud on the plate can give u a fine in most countries
Check with your state laws on tinted license plate covers in some states it's illegal for tinted license plate covers.
Taking off my license plate to do illegal things is always such a chore
Forget the license plate blocker, I just wanna know what's that gizmo on the back of the vehicle?
Nice!🙌
I wonder if one of those anti paparazzi scarves would work better? Like only blocks out everything around it when a flash happens
Download waze, set alert 5 miles above speed limit. No more tickets
I think most people would be doing this for tolls.
If cop pulled in before anyone drove by them with waze, it is useless
No gray area at all. Not only is the cover illegal, so is the frame. Great way to get pulled over.
You would get pulled over fast in my state! They don't allow clear covers just for that reason.
In Georgia the cops don't really care.
This stops when we all say “NO.”
In Texas you'd get a ticket for having anything over your plate like this.
I love this Texas law
I don't know about the US - but in many countries this'll get you a ticket, and possibly your car seized. Police who've dedicated themselves to enforcing the law don't look kindly on smart-assed attempts to escape it. That slight tint in the privacy screen is enough to tip them off which gives them all the justification they need to stop you and check it.
Or you could, like, you know... Drive at the speed limit?
Just for your own knowledge, it is against the law in New York state to have anything covering your numbers on your license plate that includes clear plastic. I know this because I got a summons
Also illegal in WA. I do put on 6 coats of clear, don't know if it's working, not willing to run a light to find out.
How convenient to make a law to rob people of their money
Excellent idea.
Thankfully the cameras have been banned where I live. Why do we tolerate tyranny?
